It’s childhood story time again!

Once, my family went to a lake outside of Grinnell, Iowa to get outdoors and in nature. There was a trail that went around the lake that was between 1 and 2 miles, if I recall, and along the trail were exercise stations with things like monkey bars, a climbing wall, and other obstacle course features.

One day when we went there, there were white ducks on the lake, and most of them didn’t pay us any attention, but one of them started following us. I were tickled and tried interacting with it, but it kept its distance. I figured it was more fun to have the duck following me, than to risk driving it away, so I played it cool, and the duck walked with us around the whole lake. It would even stop while we climbed over the obstacle course pieces along the way.

I think if I could have spoken duck, it probably would have been telling me history stories about the area that have been passed down through many duck generations.

When we completed the circuit, the duck trundled back to its duck buddies and that was that. The point is, of course, the goose may well have been a happy accident.
